AI for Work

Ages 18 and up Hands-on workshopRegister for a class

Course Description

This hands-on workshop shows you how to stop copy-pasting between AI and your actual work — and start handing tasks off to an AI that does them for you, inside the tools you already use.

Most people use AI like a smart search box: ask a question, get an answer, then do the real work yourself — pasting the reply into a document, reformatting it, updating the spreadsheet. That back-and-forth is where the time goes.

Claude Cowork closes that gap. Instead of answering and stopping, it works directly in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint — following multi-step instructions, updating files, organizing folders, and handling the repetitive tasks that fill your day. You describe the outcome; it does the steps.

We start with the practical difference between asking AI a question and assigning AI a task, and what makes that possible: instructions, memory, tools, and skills. Then you'll set up Claude Desktop and put the pieces to work — creating Projects to keep related work together, scheduling Tasks that run on their own, and steering Cowork with instructions that apply everywhere or just to a specific folder.

From there you'll build the kind of workflows that actually save hours: generating documents and reports, keeping trackers current, and turning recurring manual jobs into repeatable ones. You'll practice sharpening a task when the first result isn't right, correcting the AI mid-task, and recognizing which parts of your job are worth handing off.

Then we go further — connecting external apps and data through Connectors, building reusable Skills for tasks you do over and over, and using Dispatch, Live Artifacts, and Plugins to run background work and keep live dashboards and trackers up to date.

By the end, you'll know how to treat AI less like a chatbot and more like a capable assistant you can delegate real work to.

No coding required. Requires a Claude Pro, Max, Team, or Enterprise plan.
